Chapter 1556: They Both Care About Each Other Deep Down
Carlotta’s car is parked in the courtyard in front of the small villa. She grabs the thermal bowl filled with chicken soup and gets out of the car, walking into the living room alone in a huff. She places the thermal bowl heavily on the coffee table, sitting angrily on the sofa. The gap in her heart is simply too big!
She is thinking that she definitely must move out of here!
Today’s not a joke, not like last time when she was testing the waters, not being pretentious; she really wants to leave! She must leave! In the current situation, what does staying here look like?
She asserts that Old Mills is not as he appears; though he’s not married, that doesn’t mean he lacks women.
If Carlotta hadn’t signed a contract with Trevor to co-develop a new property project after the new year, she’d wish to immediately return to Korland!
Meanwhile, Nathan Mills’ car is also driving toward this direction. He feels expectant, thinking about how Carlotta would react upon receiving the gift, and he can’t help but smile.
In less than five minutes, his car is smoothly parked in the courtyard.
Hearing the sound, Carlotta turns her gaze. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she sees Nathan Mills getting out of the car, carrying a bag as he walks towards her.
Sitting on the sofa, her back suddenly stiffens a bit, taken aback she watches him directly walk inside.
He opens his mouth, "You’re home, that’s nice." with a smile on his face.
Old Mills places the bag on the coffee table, sits down on the sofa opposite her, then pushes the bag towards her with a smile, "This is for you."
Carlotta looks at him, then moves her gaze downward. She immediately sees the logo on the bag, it’s from that jewelry brand store earlier.
She misses a breath, then slowly raises her eyes to look at him, completely puzzled.
Nathan Mills, however, smiles somewhat awkwardly and says casually, "This thing was a gift from a client, I don’t need it. It’s worth thirty million, and there’s even a receipt, so you don’t have to feel embarrassed, just take it with the principle of not wasting."
A gift from a client?
Isn’t this what he just bought at the mall?
He took another woman to the mall but the necklace is for her?
"Carlotta." Seeing the woman zoning out, the man calls her name softly, "What are you thinking?" She seems unhappy, which makes him a bit nervous.
Carlotta snaps back, her heart filled again with a mix of emotions, "Thank you." She softly says, reaching out to accept the gift, and slides the thermal bowl on the coffee table towards him.
"What’s this?" Nathan Mills, ready to leave, inquires.
"Chicken soup, I just made it." The woman looks at him, answering in a calm tone.
Nathan Mills is surprised, staring at her intending to catch a glimpse but she remains silent, offering no further explanation.
The man thinks to himself, how did you know I was coming? And you prepared it in advance with a thermal bowl? That’s just... too in sync.
He is delighted, reaching for the handle, "Can I take it with me?"
Before Carlotta can respond, he gently explains, "Because I have a particularly important meeting that’s about to start."
"Sure." The woman replies.
"Thank you." The man shows a joyful smile, like a pampered child, grabbing the thermal bowl and walking out of the living room.
Carlotta doesn’t glance back, she sits quietly on the sofa, listening to the footsteps fading away.
The car drives away shortly.
Carlotta gazes at the bag with the necklace on the coffee table, reaching to take out the box inside, and carefully examines the necklace, it looks undeniably expensive.
The receipt is there too, marked with today’s date, thirty million.
Her brows subtly furrow without notice.
At the same time, at Trevor’s home.
Trevor has gone to the company, he will return after handling affairs.
Janelle accompanies Jocelyn Morgan at home, on the second-floor heated balcony, the two girls sit in wicker chairs, with a small round table in front of them topped with steaming snacks and Pu’er tea.
The garden outside is still thick with snow, pure and white, reflecting the world as bright as can be.
Jocelyn Morgan holds her phone, staring at the message that Ian Shelby sent shortly after boarding the plane, each word she can memorize entirely, and she is still interpreting it repeatedly...
