Chapter 233 London Shadows: A Great Parent

Chapter 233 London Shadows: A Great Parent

Compared to the original novel, the Sherlock Holmes room in the game is more similar to the film and television works.

The red and gold Victorian-era decor is the main theme, and the wallpaper still has neat "VR" shaped bullet holes.

The room was a bit messy, but at least there were signs that it had been tidied up. Various classic Sherlock Holmes items were scattered around, such as a deerstalker hat, a pipe, and a magnifying glass. Various chemical containers and powders were placed on the table, and an unknown wine-red liquid was still bubbling on an alcohol lamp.

"Holmes must have some information about Jack the Ripper here. Everyone, try your best to find it!"

"it is good!"

Conan arrived at the nearest bookshelf, but before he could even begin searching, he heard Ran's exclamation and quickly ran over to check.

"What's wrong, Xiaolan!"

Squeezing between the odd-looking Xiaolan and Yuanzi, a fully framed black-and-white photograph sits in the center of the shelf.

The frame is labeled "Holmes & Watson". Looking up, a handsome British gentleman with curly hair on the sides, bright and round eyes, and a sweet charm that is both heroic and dashing, stands on the left. Beside him stands the pot-bellied Professor Agasa, the "Middle Earth" type.

"Isn't this Shinichi's mom and Dr. Agasa? How strange!" Ran looked at the somewhat comical photo and sighed in exasperation.

"Hmph~ No way!" Sonoko Suzuki snorted and waved her hand in rebuttal. "Ran, don't you think Shinichi's mother is quite attractive when she's dressed as a man? She looks like a sweet and handsome guy!"

"Conan, watch out!" Ran Mouri reached out to steady him. "Be careful when you walk, don't wobble around like that, you almost fell into the fireplace just now!"

Conan almost got knocked away by Sonoko's words. He pursed his lips and decided that once he got out, he would warn Ran not to learn any strange things from Sonoko.

Just as he walked a few steps away, a diary lying on the lab table caught his attention. Opening the diary, he was pleasantly surprised by its contents!

[One of the unlocked clues: Jack the Ripper case log.]

It records the investigation details of the first and second cases. The victims were both middle-aged women, the time period was the same, and the location was near the Whitechapel area.

"Given this unprecedented social panic, I am certain that his actions are linked to Professor Moriarty." [Moriarty is circled in black ink, next to a simple raven symbol.]

"Even Professor Moriarty has appeared in the game?!"

While everyone else was racking their brains, Conan had already taken the throne of his idol, striking his signature pose—squatting on the chair, his fingertips clasped together, his pupils focused as he gazed into the void.

"Oh dear, he looks just like Mr. Sherlock Holmes!"

Elena carried a tray of hot drinks into the room, raised an eyebrow, and teased Conan, who was posing, "These shoes won't make you a disciple of Sherlock Holmes."

"Ah!" Conan suddenly woke up, looked down at the leather sofa where he had left two shoe prints, and immediately wiped it clean with a red face: "I'm sorry, Mrs. Hudson, please don't tell Mr. Holmes!"

"It's alright, I, the landlord, will be the one cleaning up this mess in the end anyway. Have a hot drink first!"

Listening to the landlady's familiar complaints, Conan blinked and breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that although her appearance had changed, her core remained that of the original character, so there was no need to worry about his idol suddenly going off-track!

He took the glass, held it in his hands, and slowly blew on it to warm it.

The amber-colored carbonated beverage is topped with creamy white whipped cream and has a sweet vanilla flavor, which is very appealing to children.

Just as Conan picked up the glass to drink, a sudden inspiration struck him, and he threw the dice onto the table:

[The "Food Appreciation" skill test result was 36 < 70, successful.]

[Amidst the rich aromas of cinnamon and vanilla, you, a connoisseur of fine food, detect a familiar scent: a subtle, fermented, sweet aroma of grains. At first, you can't quite recall the smell—after all, it's not suitable for children this age—but you eventually recognize it: it's the aroma of beer.]

"This is beer!" Conan exclaimed in surprise, moving the glass away with a look of accusation in his eyes.

In Japan, it's illegal for minors to drink alcohol. How could you give a child beer?! This game is full of inappropriate content for children. He's going to report the game developer to the authorities when he gets out!

“It’s alright.” Elena covered her mouth and chuckled, explaining to the pale-faced children, “This is my friend’s secret recipe butter beer. I’ve already boiled the beer beforehand, so there’s no alcohol in it.”

Butbel!

Conan and Ai Haibara exchanged a knowing glance, seeing the same thought in each other's eyes. They had carefully studied the formula for this codename, but hadn't found a consensus.

"Mrs. Hudson, what is butterbeer? Could you please tell us the recipe?"

"Eh? This is the recipe..." Elena stroked her chin, trying to recall, looking somewhat embarrassed.

Is there something wrong with this recipe?

“No, that’s not it.” Elena shook her head. “But what I have isn’t the official recipe either; it’s all my friend’s modification. In his opinion, mixing butterbeer is like filling in a chemical formula.”

"Chemical formula?"

"Hmm. Do you know how to make butterbeer? You add egg yolks, brown sugar, a little spice and ginger to the beer, bring it to a boil, and then add butter. It's that simple."

But in my friend's opinion, this means that it doesn't matter what kind of alcohol is used for butter beer.

From high-proof vodka to regular beer, all spirits are boiled with water and then mixed with spices. This completely destroys the original flavor and taste of the base spirit, making it a spirit for which other ingredients can be substituted!

"Alternatives?"

With a puzzled expression, Conan stroked his chin and paced slowly around the room, feeling as if he had grasped a clue.

......

Meanwhile, on the other side of the London streets, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, who had been overlooked by everyone due to his outstanding stealth abilities, rubbed his arms and looked warily at the dimly lit underground passage where he had somehow wandered in, hoping to find the main group as soon as possible.

Rats occasionally scurried along the rusty pipes. Unfortunately, the gas lamps used for lighting seemed to be broken, making it pitch black.

Mitsuhiko leaned against the wall to rest, feeling troubled. Just as he was thinking of trying to go back the way he came, he heard voices coming from not far away.

"How's everything going? Everything's going according to my plan, right?" A malicious, icy voice wrapped around his ankles, making it impossible to move an inch.

"Yes, yes!" the man on the other end replied, barely managing to suppress his trembling.

"That blade that's gradually getting out of control, didn't he kill an extra target tonight? Let him kill even more merrily."

"But what if he's arrested and leaks our information..."

"No buts!" the superior man rebuked in a deep voice, his elegant tone carrying an undeniable force.

“A father who can kill his child’s mother for a great cause will not care whether his child lives or dies.”

“My dear son, even if he dares to lose control while I'm faking my death, he will be my property for all eternity. I will bring him back and reconcile him until he is willing to obediently become my shadow.”
