Chapter 122 122: SHOPPING
Chapter 122 122: SHOPPING
Under Silas's skillful maneuver, the car made a sharp turn into the parking lot.
"Didn't know you could drive," Sylvester said as he got out of the car.
"He can do almost anything," Amelia said, following behind him.
Sylvester's eyebrow arced. "Anything?" he repeated, disbelief evident in his voice.
"I know it sounds hard to believe, but it is the truth," Billie said, patting Sylvester on the back.
"Don't mind them," Silas said with a smile.
"Obviously, why would I believe another boy can do things I cannot do?" Sylvester replied almost instantly.
Silas raised an eyebrow.
"Is that the basis of your disbelief?"
Sylvester did not reply with words. He let his nod do the answering.
"You will be surprised."
Before both of them could continue their banter, Billie cut in.
"This place is beautiful, though."
It was a massive palace-like structure that seemed to be made from glass that didn't quite resemble glass.
A silver light bounced off the glass as sunlight touched it.
At the top of the building, written boldly and elegantly in the middle, was the name of the place: Nova Mall.
"Welcome to Nova Mall," Sylvester said as he heard Billie's comment. "This is the main mall of the Orion Planet's capital, Nova."
"You are being too enthusiastic," Silas said, but his eyes were not on Sylvester; rather, they were on the building.
Anyone with common sense should have been able to deduce that Silas had just given a remark without expecting a response.
But Sylvester replied to him anyway.
"This is the first time someone is taking me out without me having to pay for myself or with my family's card," he said, smile still hanging on his face.
"Oh, why?" Amelia asked, her voice gentle.
"They all believe that since I am from a Sector-level clan, I can afford everything myself."
"Do you intend to spend all our time talking outside?" Billie asked with a sigh that was loud enough to draw all of their eyes.
Sylvester looked at Billie. "You don't have to always be this way," he said.
Billie clicked her tongue as she looked away from his side.
"Oh, yeah, before we go in, keep in mind that I only have a million to spare per person," Silas said, raising his hand overhead to garner their attention.
"So much?" Billie and Amelia said almost simultaneously, eyes wide as they blew raspberries.
Sylvester's face dropped at their words.
"You might not have heard him well, but he said one million," Sylvester said, his head drifting through all of them slowly.
"This is probably the reason no one can take you out. One million is a lot, if you ask any average person."
Sylvester winced his face. "Ohh."
"Yes," Silas replied with a slight frown and a nod.
"Let's go inside," Billie groaned again, as if their talk was already making her lose her mind.
"Alright then, let's go."
They began to walk towards the mall with gentle, elegant strides.
The glass doors split open automatically as they neared.
"Welcome to Nova Mall," a clerk, about 5 feet tall, greeted with a bow as they entered.
But they were too engrossed with the sight that they failed to notice her.
The place was divided into several sections that were demarcated by glass buildings.
Each section sold different things.
"Thank you," Sylvester said to the clerk.
Unlike the other three, he was not dazed.
Nova Mall was like a backyard to him; the sight and elegance were no longer new to him.
"Look at that," Amelia said with a gasp as she pointed towards one of the glass sections.
The place had thousands of bottles, stacked neatly and elegantly till they formed a huge, beautiful square shape.
"That is the specialty of our Orion Domain, the Star Dew," Sylvester said with a smirk.
"Oh, what's that?" Silas asked, walking towards the glass with slow steps.
Sylvester raised his head as he spoke. "It is a special wine that is brewed from the Orion star's energy," he said.
He brought his head down to look at the others.
"Huh?"
They were no longer there.
His head turned a little bit. He saw them, standing in front of the glass.
"You did not even wait for me," he yelled, already making his way towards them.
"Good day," the lady said with a smile.
They nodded, their eyes going down the list of available flavors.
[Chocolate: Ten Thousand credits]
[Strawberry: Ten Thousand credits]
[Milk: Hundred Thousand credits]
[Grape: Hundred Thousand credits]
[Blueberry: Hundred Thousand credits]
[Pineapple: One Million credits]
They sucked in cold air.
"No wonder Sylvester thought one million was too little; it can barely buy a hundred bottles of wine here," Billie muttered.
"If I ever buy one bottle, I might keep it as a family heirloom," Amelia added from the side.
Silas remained relatively calm despite Billie and Amelia's outburst.
"Sorry, you are facing the diluted versions."
It felt like they were splashed with a bucket of cold water.
"This is the price for the undiluted one."
They turned to the left side, where the true prices were.
"Eh! Don't worry, the diluted ones will do just fine," Billie hissed.
Seeing the price of the undiluted ones, they did not even bother to look further.
The diluted chocolate one was just ten thousand credits, but the undiluted one was ten million.
A thought struck Silas as he looked at the price.
"Give me one undiluted pineapple one," Silas said, looking up at the lady.
Billie turned to him, eyes wide in disbelief.
Her eyes trailed down the list, looking at the pineapple flavor.
Her head tilted to the side.
Amelia opened her mouth, the words finding no way to form.
"Are you really going to buy it?" She asked, her eyes glued on the price.
[Undiluted Pineapple Flavor: One Billion Credits]
Silas nodded slowly. "Yes, why not?"
Before Billie or Amelia could talk, Sylvester cut in.
"Give me one diluted Milk flavor too," he said, a slight grin forming along his lips.
"Both of you are crazy," Billie said.
"He is the crazy one," Sylvester said, pointing his index finger at Silas.
"I am buying a diluted version using the money he gave me, compared to him who is spending a billion."
"Even buying one of these makes you crazy," Amelia said, shaking her head helplessly.
"Just buy it, you don't have to be this frugal," Silas said, tapping both of them on their backs.
Billie frowned. "Who told you I was being frugal? I planned to buy one bottle, just that the price is too much."
"Same, why wouldn't I buy?" Amelia added.
"One diluted grape," Amelia said.
"Two chocolate, one strawberry, and one blueberry. Diluted," Billie placed her own order.
The lady smiled lightly, then proceeded to pack the wines for them.
Each wine was placed into a silver box with several fruit depictions.
Then, it came to Silas's wine.
The box was golden, with white linens at the edges. It had the depiction of crowns all around it.
Then, on top of it, the lady placed a card.
"Congratulations, sir, on becoming a Tier 1 VIP customer of our Nova Mall."
Silas collected the card and looked at it.
It was a sleek blue card with a golden angle on one side.
"As a Tier 1 VIP customer, you can get a ten percent discount in all of our stores both in reality and the Nexus Dimension," the lady explained.
Silas nodded and slotted the card into his pocket.
Everyone picked their things, and as if using the same mind, sent them to their AI space.
"Where to next?" Amelia asked, looking into Sylvester's eyes.
"There's a jewelry section close to this place," Sylvester said with a flustered tone.
Silas smiled, looking at Sylvester's flushed expression.
"Jewelry would be quite nice," Billie said, stroking her chin as all of them began to walk away from the wine section.
"I agree," Amelia replied.
As she spoke, she glanced towards Silas.
It was a subtle motion, but Silas caught it nonetheless.
'The necklace is no longer there,' she thought.
She had just remembered the necklace she had given to him months ago, during their time in the secret realm.
"This place is sparkling," Billie muttered, staring at the new section.
The glass itself seemed to have become invisible under the constant illumination of the thousands of jewels in it.
"I am having a bad feeling about their prices," Amelia whispered, low, but enough for all of them to hear.
"One thing you need to know while you are in this place is that everything is expensive," Sylvester replied to her whisper.
"The wines already told me that," Amelia replied almost immediately.
They reached the jewelry section quickly.
The person there was a man, seemingly in his twenties, with sharp eyes and neatly combed hair.
He looked at them with a smile. No, more specifically, he was looking at Sylvester.
Sylvester shook his head slowly in response.
The man swallowed whatever he had wanted to say previously.
"What can I get for you?" He asked, opening the door for them to enter.
Slowly, all of them entered, with Sylvester coming in last.
