Chapter 77 Blocking the Knife
Chapter 77 Blocking the Knife
"Princess, be careful!"
"There's an attack!"
Before everyone could react and shout, the evil man's claws were almost grabbing Li Yang's back.
"careful!"
Li Yang noticed the commotion and quickly turned around. Just as she met the evil man's fierce gaze, she was pushed away by a powerful force!
A man dressed in coarse gray linen clothes was seen lying on the ground howling in pain. The evil man had been controlled by Huang Weijun, but Li Su reacted quickly and helped Li Yang up.
"Li Yang, are you alright?"
He just saw Li Yang being pushed away as if he had been thrown, and it looked like his forehead hit a tree trunk. Just hearing the sound made him feel pain.
Li Yang was helped up from the ground, and sure enough, she had a big bump on her head. Her head was spinning, and she could hardly see Mo Yixing and Zeng Xu running over...
"Li Yang, how are you feeling? Can you still walk?"
Zeng Xu shoved the ethereal cat into Mo Yixing's arms and said loyally, "If you can't walk, I'll carry you back!"
"I... feel dizzy..." Li Yang shook her head. "I'll feel better after a while."
Waaaaah, I've turned into a unicorn...
The Imperial Guards, who were escorting the crazed evil man, were relieved to hear that she was alright, and struck the evil man unconscious with a palm strike.
Dong Xiubei was also helped up and brought to Li Yang. Li Yang was so angry that she felt like fainting when she thought about the bump on her head. She suspected that this person was definitely retaliating against her for exploiting her these past few days!
But considering he took a blow for me, I decided not to pursue the matter further.
Li Yang drew the long sword from the Imperial Guard's waist and scraped several times on Dong Xiubei's back. Several pieces of blackened, rotten flesh fell to the ground along with bits of clothing. She gestured for him to turn his face over and stuffed a pill into his mouth.
"Is this okay? What if he still turns into an evil person?"
"A member of the Imperial Guard asked, glancing out of the corner of his eye at the unconscious evil man on the ground.
"They're all people who follow me anyway. If they change their minds, I'll just kill them," Li Yang said casually, brushing aside the sparse hair on his forehead to cover the large, swollen bump.
Unbeknownst to anyone, a white figure stood in the distance all night, witnessing all their actions.
Meanwhile, in the desolate forest.
Charlene clutched her shoulder and went back in a disheveled state. As soon as she crawled into the cave entrance, she saw Chasing Wing, who was about to come out.
Seeing her disheveled appearance, Sha Yi smirked, "Oh, didn't you go out on a mission with your master? Why are you back in such a sorry state?"
"you!"
Anger flashed across Xia Lin's pale face, but when she thought of the terrifying look Dong Xiubei had given her earlier, her anger subsided.
"You're more trouble than you're worth, I have to deal with you personally. Just wait until I get back and I'll teach you a lesson!"
Charlene clenched her fist, snorted coldly, and disappeared from the spot.
He then turned to look at Li Yang.
Seeing Dong Xiubei being carried in covered in blood, Lian'er was startled. "Princess, were you assassinated?"
After waving her hand to have Dong Xiubei carried inside, Li Yang pulled Lian'er to the door and asked, "Did he do anything unusual while I was away?"
Lian'er thought for a moment and shook her head. "No, but he seemed very concerned about the princess's whereabouts. He asked where you went as soon as he got up early this morning, and then rushed out in a hurry!"
From this perspective, Dong Xiubei seems to have no problem, but how did he find his position?
"Oh dear, Princess, what happened to your head!" Lian'er exclaimed in alarm.
"It's nothing, I... bumped my head on the wall," Li Yang tried to brush it off, not wanting the little girl to worry. "By the way, why didn't we see the matchmaker today?"
Seeing that Li Yang wasn't going to say anything more, Lian'er didn't press the matter. "Have you forgotten that the matchmaker is off today? Princess, would you like to see what I've accomplished these past few days?"
"You've already achieved results so quickly?" Li Yang asked with delight. "Then take me to see it."
Actually, her main purpose in having the little girl learn hairpin making was not to distract her. Hairpins are a necessity for women, just like hair ties that you buy every day but still feel you don't have enough of.
“Princess, Lian’er hasn’t asked you yet why you wanted her to learn this.”
To provide her with a quiet environment to study, Li Yang arranged a separate studio for her. Lian'er led her to the studio and suddenly turned back to ask her a question.
Li Yang looked up at Lian'er, because Lian'er always kept her head down and was timid, so she had never really looked at her closely.
The little girl's personality was just like her name: her soft eyes always habitually darted away, her small face was as white as a peeled egg, and her cherry lips were tightly pursed, making it seem like anyone who spoke to her was bullying her.
"Princess? You haven't answered me yet."
Li Yang snapped out of her daze, her heart suddenly pounding, and she looked at Lian'er with a hint of amusement.
Interesting, this little girl is really hiding her true abilities.
“Because I think of you as my sister, I want you to have some skills so you won’t starve when you go out into the world.” Li Yang looked at her without blinking.
Lian'er had already led her inside. The small room only had two tables, and the rest were shelves for storing silk threads. Looking around, Li Yang even saw a dusty shelf covered by a white cloth.
Lian'er walked to a shelf filled with dazzling hair ornaments, picked up a pink hairpin and looked back at her. The hairpin was shaped like a blooming peach blossom, lifelike.
"The princess is so kind to me, but what if I'm not a good person?"
The air suddenly turned cold, and Lian'er's tone unconsciously lost some of its softness.
Li Yang walked up to her and bowed slightly, gesturing for Lian'er to put it on her.
“What bad intentions could my Lian’er possibly have? You are the first sister I’ve had since entering the palace. Even if you have designs on me, you won’t hurt me.”
With her head down, Li Yang couldn't see Lian'er's expression, but when she finished speaking, Lian'er's hand holding the hairpin suddenly trembled, and then she smiled and put the hairpin on her hair.
"Princess, it's on now."
With just a single flower in her hair, Li Yang's temperament became even more lively and playful.
Li Yang smiled and lifted her hand up. The little girl's slender, fair fingers were wrapped in bandages. When she was lifted up, the little girl gripped Li Yang's wrist tightly, her nails digging into Li Yang's pulse, but not deep.
This was not something a maid would do, but by the time Lian'er realized it, it was too late. Li Yang looked at her hands with a smile, "How can such delicate hands be used to serve others all the time?"
Lian'er's face stiffened; she finally realized that her identity could no longer be hidden.
She released Li Yang's hand, her timid expression completely gone. "When did you find out?"
Li Yang picked up the tea from the table beside her, poured herself a cup, and held it in her hand. "I already knew, when Father and Mother sent you to my side."
"Aren't you afraid the tea is poisoned?" Lian'er frowned slightly as she watched her actions. "And knowing I'm in danger, you still keep me by your side. Aren't you afraid I'll kill you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the wide-open door suddenly slammed shut!
