Chapter 76 They've arrived
Chapter 76 They've arrived
"It's been five minutes already. Does it really take that long to get to the restroom?"
tide Lena glanced at the baby's breath on her wrist and frowned slightly.
Jiang Zhengge glanced at it as well, then shrugged.
"Looks like he escaped. My mission has failed. I'll head back now."
After saying that, Jiang Zhengge turned to leave.
He had only taken two steps when a small, cold hand grabbed his wrist.
"Old Jiang."
Jiang Zhengge turned around and looked at tide Leina.
He saw a hint of pleading in the girl's eyes.
"Come with me," Xileina said softly. "The Foundation will soon change the world, and that's beyond our control."
Jiang Zhengge and tide Leina looked at each other, and this time, he did not shake off her hand.
"Let it go, tide Leina," Jiang Zhengge said softly.
tide Leina didn't seem surprised by Jiang Zhengge's answer. She looked at the man in front of her quietly, her deep blue eyes reflecting the dazzling lights of the carnival.
After a long silence, she let go of his hand.
"Be careful." Her tone was much calmer.
Jiang Zhengge chuckled, turned his head, and prepared to cooperate with Lin Chen.
Just then, applause came from the side:
"Oh...oh...Section Chief Jiang, getting close to her again? Still haven't given up?"
Upon hearing this voice, Jiang Zhengge closed his eyes.
"Damn it," he muttered under his breath.
Jiang Zhengge turned his head and saw a guard in a suit and sunglasses walking towards him.
This is a mercenary hired by a black market website.
More importantly, Jiang Zhengge knew him.
"Wu Hao," Jiang Zhengge said calmly, "whose dog are you today?"
The mercenary took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of clearly prosthetic mechanical eyes.
"Anyway, I'm not your dog anymore," Wu Hao squinted. "When I was working for you, I didn't earn as much as I do now."
"That money really makes people vulgar..." Jiang Zhengge put his hands in his pockets and smiled disdainfully, "Now you're even willing to wear the foundation's dog leash..."
"That's still better than the Investigation Bureau's dog leash," Wu Hao glanced at tide Leina beside him, "but I really didn't expect you to stand with this traitor and talk to him..."
"..."
"Who is this again? Why does the section chief run into an acquaintance every few steps?"
Li Zhanyi looked at the mercenaries through the sniper scope, his expression puzzled.
"This guy... I'll look into it..." Louis said.
A few seconds later, Louis found the file:
"Wu Hao...this guy used to be in the rapid response department."
"A senior from Section One?" Li Zhanyi asked, somewhat surprised. "Then why did you become a mercenary on the black market? That line of work is very expensive..."
“No more detailed information can be found,” Louis said. “The last mission recorded in his file was ‘Deep-Sea Diving Operation,’ after which he left the Bureau of Investigation…”
"..."
"In that operation, she killed four Section 1 investigators, fifteen Section 2 investigators, and thirty-six crew members who were on standby on the ship."
Wu Hao stared at Jiang Zhengge and squeezed out his question, word by word.
"Now, she stands here, glamorous and beautiful, and you pretend nothing happened... just like the Investigation Bureau back then."
"Come on," Jiang Zhengge said calmly. "If you really wanted to seek justice for your comrades, you wouldn't have ended up making a living on the black market. You've done plenty of dirty work these past few years, do you think I don't know?"
As he spoke, Jiang Zhengge made several hand gestures toward the French windows.
"The section chief told us to act on our own," Li Zhanyi said softly. "Lin Chen, how's it going on your end?"
"Ready in position."
Li Zhanyi once again set his sights on room 3812: the curtains in the room were drawn open, and Lin Chen stood at the window, waving.
"Watch out, the shrimp is approaching the room," Louis's voice came through. "Stay hidden."
"receive."
Lin Chen lay down and looked through the edge of the bed at the long corridor in the distance.
With a "beep", the door opened.
"Fuck...fuck...these damn white pigs...fuck..."
Zuo Xia rushed into the porch, pushed open the door to the washroom, and plunged inside.
Then a whole host of indescribable sounds came from inside.
"..."
Lin Chen pressed the earpiece and whispered:
"Louis, lock the door."
"It's all done."
So Lin Chen waited quietly.
About ten minutes later, the sound of flushing water came from the bathroom. Looking exhausted, Zuo Xia pushed open the door and walked to the bedside.
He cursed as he changed his pants, completely unaware that Lin Chen was slowly rising behind him—
"Don't move."
The moment the muffler was pressed against the back of his head, Zuo Xia's body stiffened.
He trembled slightly, then let out a groan:
"I knew it... you guys were targeting me..."
"Give me the key to the 'ideal state'," Lin Chen said softly. "Don't make any rash moves, Zuo Dao. I've obtained the kill permission."
"You can't kill me!" Zuo Xia's face turned ferocious.
The next second, many things happened simultaneously:
A door appeared out of thin air and opened, and a figure in a suit and leather shoes stepped into the room, pointing a gun at Lin Chen.
A bullet ripped open the French windows, flew into the room amidst the cacophony of torrential rain and thunder, and shattered the solid head.
Lin Chen used his trench coat to block the bullets fired from the body, and taking advantage of the opportunity, Zuo Xia rushed towards the door, preparing to escape.
Lin Chen quickly raised his pistol:
"Bang!"
"Aaaaaaaahhhhh!"
Left Shrimp clutched his thigh and collapsed to the ground, howling in pain.
A walkie-talkie-like device flew out, slid a short distance on the floor, and then came to a stop.
Lin Chen walked to the door opener, picked up the instrument, and looked up at the illusory door beside him.
As the physical entity disappeared, the door gradually collapsed into grayish-white particles that scattered across the ground.
"Good gun, but it's soaked in water," Lin Chen said, looking at the heavy rain outside the broken window. "A timely rain."
"Hehe, only I could have predicted that he would have run away if someone else had been the sniper." Li Zhanyi was very happy.
"Did you get the door opener?" Louis asked.
"Got it," Lin Chen nodded. "What should we do with the shrimp?"
"Ignore him, he's useless," Louis said. "Get out of here immediately and bring the door opener back."
"receive."
Lin Chen put the door opener into his pocket and turned to look at Zuo Xia, who was groaning on the ground.
"Please...please..." Zuo Xia struggled, "I'll...cooperate with you, okay? Please...take me away..."
"Isn't it too late?" Lin Chen said softly.
"You...don't understand..." Zuo Xia's hands trembled. "They...are here..."
The next second, an explosion came from the office building across the street—
"boom!!!"
Lin Chen turned his head sharply: he saw black smoke billowing from the room where Li Zhanyi was, with firelight flickering in the rain.
"Get your clothes wet!" Lin Chen shouted.
"Captain England is here! Cough..."
On the other end of the channel, Li Zhanyi's voice sounded somewhat weak.
"Quick... bring the door opener..."
"Evacuate immediately!"
