Chapter 46 Bullying the Wounded, Bold as a Lust
Chapter 46 Bullying the Wounded, Bold as a Lust
The cotton swab touched the broken skin, and a stinging pain shot through her. Su Wanwan instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but Bai Rongbei held her wrist firmly, preventing her from moving.
He moved quickly, gently rolling the cotton swab twice over the wound, the brown iodine spreading across the tender, broken skin.
Su Wanwan bit her lower lip and didn't say anything, but her brows were still furrowed.
"Does it hurt?" Bai Rongbei looked up at her.
"No...it doesn't hurt," Su Wanwan said stubbornly, but her voice trembled slightly.
Bai Rongbei didn't say anything, but took another clean cotton swab, dipped it in some mercurochrome, and this time he was even gentler.
Mercurochrome is not as irritating as iodine; it feels cool when applied.
Su Wanwan looked at his lowered profile.
His eyelashes weren't long, but they were thick; his nose was straight; his lips were pressed into a line; and his expression was so focused that he seemed to be doing some kind of precise technical work.
The house was quiet, but you could hear the knocking and banging sounds coming from the neighboring yard, as well as Chen Jianjun's loud voice.
"Okay." Bai Rongbei released her wrist and threw the used cotton swab into the trash can in the corner.
Su Wanwan withdrew her hand, looked at the small red mark below her thumb, and whispered, "Thank you."
Bai Rongbei tightened the cap on the medicine bottle and put it back in the medicine box: "Don't work this afternoon, your hands are all blistered."
"But..." Su Wanwan wanted to say that everyone was still busy, how could she take a break?
"No buts." Bai Rongbei stood up, closed the medicine box, and said, "You and Lin Weiwei should rest. We men will do the work, quick."
After he finished speaking, he turned and walked out.
Su Wanwan quickly got out of bed, wanting to go out and help.
But her legs went numb from sitting for so long. As soon as she stood up, her right leg gave way, and she fell forward.
"what!"
Bai Rongbei turned around when he heard the sound, and Su Wanwan had already thrown herself into his arms.
He instinctively reached out and caught her, and the two bumped into each other.
Su Wanwan's face collided with his strong chest, her nose stung painfully, and tears almost welled up in her eyes.
In her panic, she grabbed the front of his military uniform, her palm landing squarely on his chest.
It's rock hard.
Through the fabric of the military uniform, you could clearly feel the firm muscles underneath, like an iron plate.
Su Wanwan froze completely.
Bai Rongbei was also stunned.
He still had his hands on her arms, and could feel the softness and warmth of her body.
The scent of soap from her hair, mixed with a hint of sweat, wafted into his nose.
The room was eerily quiet.
A few seconds later, Su Wanwan pushed him away abruptly as if she had been burned, her face flushed red, and she stammered, "I-I'm sorry! My legs went numb... I lost my balance..."
Bai Rongbei also loosened his grip, took half a step back, his face expressionless, but the tips of his ears were a little red.
"It's nothing." His voice was a little dry. "You rest, don't come out."
After saying that, he turned around and strode out, slamming the door shut.
Su Wanwan stood there, the hard, unyielding sensation still lingering in her palm.
Her face was so hot it could fry an egg, and her heart was pounding like a drum.
She patted her face and muttered to herself, "Su Wanwan, you're so embarrassing..."
After Bai Rongbei went out, he leaned against the door to catch his breath.
He still carried the scent of Su Wanwan.
Bai Rongbei couldn't help but recall what had just happened.
This woman was like she had no bones; when I held her with my hands, her body was soft and felt wonderful.
Thinking about this, Bai Rongbei felt a strange heat rising in his body.
This heat is something I've never experienced before.
It felt like his abdomen was on fire, and for a fleeting moment, a desire arose in the injured area.
Bai Rongbei shook his head and went back to work.
……
In the next room, Lin Weiwei was finding clean clothes for Bai Si'an.
Bai Si'an sat on the edge of the bed, his upper body still naked, with a thick bandage wrapped around his right shoulder, like a big white steamed bun.
Lin Weiwei rummaged through his closet, muttering, "Why are all your clothes the same? Military shirts, military shirts, and more military shirts... Don't you have anything else?"
Baisian pushed up his old glasses, which he had temporarily found on the bridge of his nose, and answered.
"Wearing a military uniform is convenient," he said.
"What's so convenient about it?" Lin Weiwei pulled out a relatively new shirt. "Wearing a military uniform at home is so stiff. I'll buy you some casual clothes next time we go to the city."
Bai Si'an watched her unfold her shirt and walk over, wanting to say no, but swallowed the words back.
Lin Weiwei walked up to him and unfolded her shirt: "Raise your hand, left arm."
Bai Si'an obediently raised his left arm, and Lin Weiwei pulled on the shirt sleeve, her movements a little clumsy but very careful, avoiding his injured right shoulder.
"Raise your right arm slowly, don't strain," she instructed.
Bai Si'an tried to raise his right arm, but his shoulder hurt as soon as he moved it, and he frowned.
"Never mind, never mind, don't move." Lin Weiwei squatted down, wrapped the right half of her shirt around his back, and then squatted in front of him, buttoning it up one button at a time.
In this position, her face was very close to his.
Bai Si'an could see the tiny beads of sweat on the tip of her nose and a speck of dust on her eyelashes.
She buttoned her clothes carefully, her lips slightly pursed, her breath gently brushing against his chest.
His Adam's apple bobbed.
"All done." Lin Weiwei fastened the last button, patted his chest, and said, "It fits quite well."
She stood up, took two steps back, and looked him over.
The white shirt made him look very energetic.
Although the gauze on her shoulders made her look a bit bulging, she looked much more refreshed overall.
"That's more like it," Lin Weiwei nodded in satisfaction. "It looks better than when you wear your military uniform all the time."
Bai Si'an looked down at himself: "Is there a difference?"
"Of course!" Lin Weiwei glared at him. "Military uniforms are work clothes. At home, you should wear something more comfortable. You wait, I'll get a piece of cloth and make you something to wear at home."
Bai Si'an wanted to say it wasn't necessary, but seeing her enthusiastic expression, he couldn't bear to dampen her spirits.
"You should rest," Lin Weiwei said, pressing him back onto the bed. "I'll go help. Don't try to be brave with your injuries like this."
"I'm fine..."
"What do you mean 'nothing'!" Lin Weiwei interrupted him. "You were hit by a brick and you're bleeding. You're still saying 'nothing'? You lie still while I go check on the situation outside."
After she finished speaking, she rushed out.
As soon as she went out, Su Wanwan hurriedly asked with concern, "Weiwei, is your husband alright?"
Lin Weiwei touched her lips, smiled secretly, and then whispered to Su Wanwan, "It's okay, he still had the energy to nibble at me just now."
Su Wanwan's ears turned red from Lin Weiwei's words. "You, you, how could you even bully the wounded? You're incredibly audacious."
