Chapter 197 Vampires (3)
Chapter 197 Vampires (3)
Chapter 197 Vampire (3)
Nocturnal creatures
This word covers many monsters, and some creatures are proud to have such a name.
Vampires are one of them.
Vampires are a demonic race known for their insatiable thirst for blood, and they have woven themselves into the legends of various cultures.
Contrary to popular belief, vampires are not true demons. They are actually mutants that emerged during evolution, with origins completely different from traditional demons.
Vampires are not born, but are created through a ritual called the "blood pact".
A blood pact is a ritual involving the exchange of blood between a vampire and a human. When a human is bitten by a vampire, the vampire transfers their blood to the human, initiating the transformation process.
This bizarre fusion creates a new vampire, forever bound to the creature that gave it life. The transformed vampire gains extraordinary abilities and sustains its eternal life by drinking blood.
Vampires possess many characteristics that distinguish them from ordinary demons. They are incredibly strong, agile, and possess exceptional senses, especially stealth; they can move freely in the shadows and launch surprise attacks.
Vampires are also known for their captivating charm, which can manipulate human minds.
This is why vampires often appear in stories primarily aimed at female audiences, because these stories are often spread by women who were initially captivated by the allure of vampires.
The most distinctive characteristic of vampires is their need for blood. Although vampires can eat ordinary food, it cannot sustain their lives; only blood can provide them with the vitality they require.
The process of blood-sucking usually involves a vampire biting into the victim's veins or arteries and sucking the essence of blood that sustains them.
In folklore, sunlight is often considered a weakness of vampires. While it doesn't kill them outright, it significantly weakens their abilities. However, this weakness only applies to lower-level vampires who haven't fully evolved.
Many vampire legends have been romanticized or exaggerated over time, but their core characteristics have remained unchanged: a demonic creature forever bound to the night, driven by a thirst for the essence of life.
This is what's described in the game.
Whenever a player encounters a new demon or enemy, information about them will appear in the Legends tab. The more of these enemies you defeat, the more information about them will be revealed.
This is part of the game's collection system.
I completed the game almost perfectly, and naturally killed quite a few vampires in the process.
When these memories were triggered, I knew I was facing a vampire, and all the signs matched those of a vampire, especially its use of blood magic.
But I wanted to confirm it. So, I went back to the old library that night to look for the tunnel that was mentioned and to see if it really was a vampire.
'It's really here.'
Right now, I'm standing in one of the tunnels.
'Traces of blood magic; this is the work of a vampire.'
These marks are fresh and rough, but some older ones can also be seen. It seems this cannot be dealt with using normal methods.
'I must be fully prepared.'
Having confirmed all the information, I immediately left the tunnel, returned to the surface, and went back to my room.
'Hopefully it's not a high-ranking vampire.'
If it really is, then we're in big trouble.
'And we need to act quickly.'
If my guess is correct, Senior Maya may soon be swallowed up.
Or, she might face an even more terrible fate.
......
When Emilia opened her eyes in the morning, she instantly felt a heavy sense of fatigue.
She couldn't fall asleep all night, only closing her eyes around six in the morning. As an awakened being, despite possessing superhuman physical strength, mental fatigue still persisted.
Morning light streamed into the room through the curtains; the air was still, and a quiet stillness permeated the surroundings. Amelia stretched out her arms, trying to shake off the weariness that gripped her heart.
She sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing her eyes. The events of yesterday replayed in her mind, every detail imbued with a sense of urgency and mystery. Maya's disappearance and Morse's discovery had woven an unfathomable web.
She was dressed neatly, ready to greet the new day, her eyes sparkling with determination.
Exhaustion left her breathless, but she wouldn't stop searching for answers and friends.
After a quick shower to wash away her fatigue, Emilia stepped out of the room, her steps light and purposeful.
"Ok?"
However, she ran into someone in the hallway.
"You're awake too?" It was Morse, who was coming out of the room.
Good morning, Emilia-senpai.
Emilia smiled and asked with concern, "How did you rest?"
He worked very hard, and as his senior, Emilia naturally wanted to show more concern and encouragement.
Morse scratched the back of his head, his eyes showing a hint of weariness, but also determination. "It's alright, I have enough clues to keep me going."
'He really values Maya.'
She knew from the beginning that the relationship between the two was unusual. She could see Maya's concern for Morse, and Morse behaved differently in front of Maya. He was more docile.
"Where are you going later?" Emilia asked curiously.
Morse hesitated for a moment before replying, "Um... I need to look into something."
Emilia raised an eyebrow and asked, "Have you found any new clues?"
“Not entirely,” Morse replied mysteriously. “I’m going to see someone.”
Emilia nodded, understanding that Morse had his reasons. "Alright, remember to let me know if anything happens."
Morse nodded. "I will." With that, he walked towards the exit, while Emilia watched him with a hint of expectation.
Just as Morse was about to leave, he suddenly turned around. "Is Sylvie awake?"
Emilia shook her head. "No, she's still resting. She went through a lot yesterday and needs to get some more sleep."
A thoughtful look crossed Morse's face. "I need to talk to her about something. Can you tell me when she wakes up?"
Emilia nodded in agreement. "No problem, I'll let you know as soon as she wakes up."
Morse nodded, turned and left, leaving Emilia lost in thought.
What do they want to talk about?
She pondered silently, but knew now was not the time to press for answers. Then, she returned to her room to prepare breakfast.
Just as she sat down to think about the day that was about to begin, the phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and saw it was the instructor in charge of the history and art club. Curious, she answered the phone.
Good morning, mentor.
“Good morning, Emilia.” The mentor’s voice carried a hint of guilt. She should have accompanied them on this trip, but she made the decision because she believed Sius was safe.
"I'd like to confirm, you haven't returned to the academy yet, have you?"
"Yes, mentor. I'm still here."
The mentor's tone immediately turned serious. "Emilia, I understand your concerns about Maya, but it's time to consider returning. Leave the investigation to the authorities; they are better equipped to handle this situation."
Emilia took a deep breath and then answered firmly, “Thank you for your concern, mentor, but I cannot leave. Maya is my friend, and I cannot just abandon her.”
The tutor on the other end of the phone sighed. "Amelia, I understand the friendship between you, but this situation is becoming increasingly complicated, and it's not safe for students to get involved in these things."
“I know it’s dangerous, but I can’t stand idly by.”
The tutor was torn between understanding and worry. "Emilia, the academy cares about each and every one of you. Your safety is our top priority. Please come back first."
Emilia remained steadfast. "I can't let Maya face the danger alone. I'll stay until I find her. I promise I'll be careful."
The tutor sighed again, realizing that persuading Emilia would be difficult. "Emilia, I won't force you, but I hope you'll consider the consequences of your decision. The same goes for the two students with you; remember to inform them."
After saying these words, the phone was hung up, leaving Emilia lost in thought.
She knew why the academy was doing this, and that her actions weren't rational. But ultimately, knowing the consequences and being able to detach from emotions are two different things.
Ring ring ring!
Just as she was thinking, the doorbell rang.
“Senior Emilia, it’s me, Sylvie.”
It was another junior of hers. Emilia walked to the door and opened it, where stood a girl with messy hair and dark circles under her eyes.
Seeing Sylvie's appearance, Emilia's eyes softened. "Sylvie, come in." She saw the weariness on Sylvie's face and felt the heaviness in her own heart.
Sylvie walked in, and Emilia gently closed the door. "Are you alright?" Emilia asked sincerely.
Sylvie nodded weakly. "I...I'm alright."
“Sit down, let’s talk.” Emilia gestured for Sylvie to sit at the small table. She knew very well what the girl had been through. “Are you asleep?”
Sylvie hesitated for a moment before answering. "I slept for a while; last night was very difficult."
Emilia nodded understandingly. "I understand, I haven't slept much either. Let's eat something, maybe it will help."
"it is good."
Sylvie nodded in agreement, and Emilia then ordered another breakfast from the hotel's website.
"Where's Morse?" Sylvie looked around, her gaze sweeping across the room.
"He just went out."
"He went out?"
"Yes, he said he was going to meet someone."
“…” Sylvie remained silent for a while.
He also said he needed to talk to you alone and that you should call him when you felt better.
When the topic of needing to speak privately came up, Sylvie's expression changed slightly, which Emilia immediately noticed.
'I see.'
Emilia nodded inwardly, a pleasant smile spreading across her face.
However, that smile quickly turned into worry...
