Chapter 3 Familiar Strangers
Chapter 3 Familiar Strangers
Xie Mingmu stood idly in the corridor, lost in thought, while his companions did the same, looking around. According to the guide, they were free to wander around.
Xie Mingmu didn't know much about JYP Entertainment and wasn't particularly interested in it. Out of boredom, he looked around to gather information, and his first priority was to find Miss A's practice room.
However, JYP Entertainment didn't leave a deep impression on Xie Mingmu. It lacked the sophisticated ambiance expected of one of the three major entertainment companies: it was just an ordinary building housing a group of idols to whom one could place their hopes. Essentially, it was about fulfilling the emotional needs of certain individuals.
My thoughts were wandering, or rather, in a stream of consciousness. I had completely forgotten what I had just said about leading the way, and I was about to open the door to a practice room. Before my hand even reached the handle, the door opened.
Xie Mingmu woke up with a start and quickly took a few steps back, using his peripheral vision to observe who came out. Was it her?
The door opened, and to Xie Mingmu's surprise, they were men. It seemed that the company had other idol groups; Xie Mingmu had thought that the company only had these two girl groups.
Moreover, he didn't recognize any of these men, and only one of them was a handsome Hong Kong-style guy who looked decent; the others were rather unappealing. This puzzled Xie Mingmu greatly. Was the threshold for becoming an idol really that low?
Especially the one with two sausages hanging from his mouth, it was simply a pitiful sight.
A guy was with that handsome Hong Kong-style guy; they must have a good relationship.
"Jankson, thank you so much for last time, you did me a huge favor."
"I'm here, I'm here." The handsome Hong Kong-style guy smiled and was very modest.
Hearing this Cantonese, Xie Mingmu felt a warmth in his heart and blurted out, "Are you from Guangdong province?"
The handsome Hong Kong-style man, hearing the familiar accent, replied in Mandarin, "Yes, where are you from?"
"From Hong Kong Island."
"What a coincidence, me too~~"
The two exchanged a smile, feeling delighted to meet someone from their hometown in a foreign land—a perfectly normal occurrence.
Every day, the first thing Jankson hears when he opens his eyes is Korean, which only makes him miss his hometown more. It's a symbol, a symbol that he doesn't belong here.
For Xie Mingmu, speaking Cantonese was a rare privilege. Upon hearing the phrase "bian dao," he realized that his dialect finally had a purpose, instead of just being used with his cheap old man. So he took the initiative to strike up a conversation with Jankson.
Seeing Xie Mingmu wearing a mask, only his deep eyes were visible, and she thought he must be very handsome. So she looked up and asked, "I haven't seen you before. Are you a new trainee?"
"No, I'm a new photographer, I just arrived today."
Jankson wanted to say something more, but the sausage-lipped man pulled him away, saying, "I have other things to do, so I'll go first. Let's go out for dinner together sometime. It's rare to find fellow countrymen, especially from the same place."
"Okay, okay."
Xie Mingmu waved goodbye to him. Anyway, they were both at JYP, so there was no fear of not having a chance to meet. There was plenty of time, and there was no rush to exchange contact information.
Next, Xie Mingmu wandered around and found that the practice room was almost always full, even during mealtimes.
Regardless, the dedication of the Peninsula team is commendable, and they certainly have the potential to debut in the future.
"Never mind, it's lunchtime anyway, I'll go eat first."
Xie Mingmu didn't think much of it and headed towards the company cafeteria. As he passed a practice room, the door suddenly opened.
"duang~~"
The door suddenly slammed into Xie Mingmu's high nose bridge, and blood immediately streamed down his nose.
Xie Mingmu hurriedly covered his nose, tilted his head back, and blood flowed onto his mask, making him look somewhat ferocious.
The people inside also heard the sound and hurriedly ran out through the gap to check the situation.
Xie Mingmu looked up at the scene below and felt a surge of white, turbulent waves. He swallowed hard, unable to control himself.
First impressions are instinctive, so Xie Mingmu awkwardly shifted his gaze to the person in the middle, who looked embarrassed; it seemed she was the culprit. However, she didn't seem very bright, so her actions were quite plausible.
"Kenchana, I'm so sorry~"
Seeing Xie Mingmu's bloodied nose, Momo felt very embarrassed and said that she could only blame herself for pushing the door too hard and causing him to bleed from the nose.
"It's nothing," Xie Mingmu said in a muffled voice. Anyway, she didn't do it on purpose. It was just an accident. Seeing her embarrassed look, he immediately forgave her. What else could he do?
"I have some tissues here, you can use them to wipe yourself."
Momo pulled out a pack of tissues from her pocket, and Xie Mingmu took it and said thank you.
Xie Mingmu covered his nose and was about to walk towards the bathroom when he suddenly saw a girl grinning. Although she tried her best to hide her smile, her rabbit teeth betrayed her feelings.
For a moment, Xie Mingmu was a little angry, but also a little captivated, because she had smiled like that before.
Seeing Xie Mingmu's stunned expression, Momo worried that something was wrong and hurriedly asked, "Are you alright? Are you okay?"
Lim Nayeon was not to be outdone. Seeing Xie Mingmu looking at her, she quickly looked back, but could only see a chin covered by a mask.
"Why are you wearing a mask? Are you so ugly you can't show your face?" Lim Nayeon was getting a little annoyed. "I just smiled at your disheveled look, did you have to stare at me like that?"
Although I know it's a bit impolite, it's not a big deal.
The team immediately thought of a possibility and asked Xie Mingmu, "Are you a fan of Nayeon? Otherwise, why are you staring at her?"
Upon hearing this, Lim Nayeon's bunny teeth shone even brighter. "So he's my fan! No wonder he kept looking at me. Looks like I'm the most popular member of Twice. Even at work, I meet someone I like! Hehehe~~ But who is he? I don't think I've ever seen him before."
"Is that so?"
Momo stared with wide, questioning eyes. She wasn't stupid, just a little slow to react! Seeing Xie Mingmu's reaction, she immediately believed this conclusion and quickly came to her senses.
"You're a fan? Then how did you end up in our company?"
The three of them took a step back in unison, fearing that Xie Mingmu was the kind of obsessive fan who had secretly come to the company. Alarm bells rang in their hearts.
Seeing the three women looking at him like he was a pervert, Xie Mingmu knew they had misunderstood. "I'm a cameraman's assistant who just started today. I was just feeling a little dizzy. I'm going to the restroom now."
Xie Mingmu left the scene somewhat disheveled, fearing that if he had been any later, these three psychos would have taken him to the police station!
