Chapter 7, Choice 1
Chapter 7, Choice 1
The door opened.
"Welcome back to Chungmuro, man of Chungmuro!"
Huang Yun went in first, then smiled and gestured for them to enter.
Huang Min patted her head lightly, looking rather helpless. Huang Yun chuckled. Not long ago, she heard her older brother say that he was a man from "Chungmuro". Hearing this, Huang Yun suddenly felt that he was quite high-class, just like her older brother was some kind of important figure. When she was almost home in the taxi, Huang Yun suddenly remembered that her home was on Chungmuro Road!
Realize this.
She almost died laughing.
Upon entering the living room, Huang Min immediately noticed the rope hanging in the center. The current house structure is different from the old beams. In the past, hanging was as simple as hanging the rope from the beam, tying a knot, putting the head in the rope, and then kicking the stool away.
It's much more complicated now.
The fact that Huang Min first drilled a hole in the living room ceiling with an electric drill before fixing a rope to it and then committed suicide shows that Huang Min's suicide was premeditated due to external public pressure and his awareness of his predicament. In short, his determination to die was quite firm.
"Don't look!"
After Huang Yun finished speaking.
He pulled over a chair that was lying on the side, stood on it, untied the rope, and quickly threw it into the trash can.
"Fortunately, it didn't work."
Huang Min laughed and said, "Otherwise, this place would become a haunted house, and even you wouldn't be able to live here."
The house is quite large. Huang Min bought it for over five million yuan after gaining fame in the entertainment industry to live in with his sister. Later, after getting married, Huang Min transferred the house to his sister. After the divorce, he returned to live with his sister.
The decoration style is on the minimalist side. Based on her memory, Huang Yun decided on the style herself after communicating with the interior designer. The house is quite large, about 1,500 square meters, with four bedrooms, two living rooms, and a balcony that extends outwards, somewhat resembling a fourth-generation building on Earth.
Because of its eastern location, situated on the dividing line between the north and south of the Qinling Mountains, the city enjoys a warm temperate climate year-round. This means that unlike some cities on Earth where the fourth-generation buildings are uninhabitable during certain seasons, these buildings are quite popular in the city.
"It's good that you know."
Huang Yun replied irritably.
While his younger sister was cooking, Huang Min went into the study. There was a bookshelf filled with all kinds of books. Although Huang Min was not highly educated, he would read whenever he had time, and he should be considered a very settled man.
There was a piece of paper on the desk with the words "Why" written on it.
The meaning of these three words was obvious: he was asking his ex-wife why she had slandered him and driven him to the brink of death. Huang Min didn't pay attention to these things; instead, he stared at the words.
It is indeed very beautiful.
The lines are as fine as a hair, yet the thicker parts are powerful, showing a touch of calligraphic skill.
Next to the paper was a sketch. Huang Min reached out, took it, and opened it. It was a picture of mountains and rocks, which was quite well done and had a certain charm of ink painting.
Judging from his hobbies of painting and calligraphy, Huang Min seems to understand why Mingming, who is very handsome and whose acting skills, though not great, have honed his craft step by step from being an extra, is certainly not bad, yet has never become a big star.
The reason lies in the painting and calligraphy, which exude gentleness and have no sharp edge whatsoever.
In the entertainment industry, if you want to truly succeed, don't be an honest person. Good resources are fought for and snatched up. In this circle, honest people are often devoured without a trace.
He rolled up the rock painting and stuffed it into a round bamboo tube next to his desk. There were seven or eight other paintings inside, but Huang Min wasn't really interested in looking at them. However, having painting skills was not bad; at least it would be more helpful in expressing cinematic language in the future.
And this calligraphy... it could totally be used to write the title of a movie.
After casually glancing around twice, Huang Min left the study. He didn't have many resources at his disposal, and he basically had no connections, which he hadn't even considered.
"Choose the lesser of two evils."
People in the entertainment industry definitely understand this principle.
So there's absolutely no need to try. All that's left is money. He has a car worth over 400,000 yuan and over 300,000 yuan in his bank account. The main reason is that after the incident, the brands he endorsed all came to him demanding damages for his reputation.
In order to secure endorsements from these second- and third-tier brands, and because Huang Min didn't think he had any blemishes on his record, he signed high-value defamation contracts with the brands.
And that's nothing unusual; many celebrities do this to secure certain brand endorsements, with breach of contract penalties ranging from 20% to 80%.
In short, he's not bankrupt now, but the 300,000 yuan in his account... to ordinary people, is a considerable amount of savings, but Huang Min knows that this amount of money won't last long.
Unless he cuts off all ties with everyone in the entertainment industry, he'll at most send a few gifts. Even though no one has spoken up for him after all the scandals he's exposed, his celebrity friends will still send him invitations when he has a happy occasion.
The reason is very simple.
"Your ex-wife is tearing you apart, what are we outsiders supposed to say?"
We arrived at the kitchen.
Huang Min saw his younger sister busily working.
Lunch is over.
Huang Yun called the driver who had helped her yesterday. The two talked for a while, and when Huang Yun insisted on visiting to express her gratitude, the driver had no choice but to send her his home address.
Grabbing his coat and then taking out his bank card from the closet in his room, Huang Min drove his sister to a bank and withdrew 200,000 yuan in cash.
About half an hour later.
Huang Min brought his sister to a residential area in the north of the city. After ringing the doorbell three times, the door opened, and a middle-aged couple came into view.
"Come in quickly."
The couple warmly greeted them, and after Huang Min and his sister sat down, the middle-aged man smiled and said, "I told you there's no need to thank me. It's good that you're alright. I helped you, so if you ever encounter anyone in trouble in the future, just lend a hand too."
"..."
Huang Min was taken aback.
Originally, he brought 200,000 yuan in cash as a token of gratitude, but after listening to what the middle-aged man said, Huang Min's thoughts changed.
"Uncle Zheng, let's keep this one separate from the other."
Huang Yun said earnestly, "You may not know this, but my brother is my only family left in this world. If he were gone, I wouldn't know what to do..."
As they talked...
Huang Yun's emotions fluctuated again, her eyes gradually reddened, and even her voice was choked with sobs.
Huang Min reached out and patted her on the back, then said to the middle-aged man, "Uncle Zheng, I reckon you should recognize who I am by now, right?"
Seeing the couple nod and smile, Huang Min also laughed: "Indeed, I've been trending a lot lately. After my suicide attempt yesterday, short videos of me have been constantly being pushed to me. The shows I made before didn't get this much attention."
