"Ring ring ring!" A phone rang urgently in the office of Deputy Mayor Gao Kai.

Gao Kai, who was reviewing documents, frowned. Who was so rude as to call him directly instead of through his secretary?

"Yes, Mayor Gao!" Secretary Zhang had overheard the conversation and understood that if District Chief Zhao didn't have anything important to discuss today, he would likely be scolded by Mayor Gao.

In less than fifteen minutes, Zhao Lu arrived at the municipal government building at a brisk pace. Without the slightest hesitation, he hurried towards Mayor Gao's office. He didn't respond to anyone who greeted him along the way, which still attracted curious glances from many people.

"Secretary Zhang, I need to see Mayor Gao. Could you please inform him for me?" Zhao Lu asked directly, not even having time to wipe the sweat from his brow, as he looked at Secretary Zhang standing at the door of the mayor's office.

"District Chief Zhao, wipe your sweat, the mayor is waiting for you inside! Just go straight there!" Secretary Zhang handed Zhao Lu a handkerchief and said with a smile.

"Thank you, Secretary Zhang!" Zhao Lu took the handkerchief without hesitation, pushed open the door without even knocking, and went in. He then turned around, closed the door, and locked the office door from the inside.

"What's wrong with you? Is the sky falling? What do you have to say in person right now? I have a meeting in half an hour, so hurry up and say what you have to say! Also, hurry up and wipe the sweat off your forehead, what kind of behavior is this?" Gao Kai said to Zhao Lu as he walked in, annoyed.

"Is your information accurate? Where did you get this information from?" Gao Kai asked Zhao Lu with a look of suspicion.

"Sir, I have a childhood friend who used to be in the navy. He happened to be on the same warship as this Brigade Commander Tian. He came back from visiting his family once and told me about Brigade Commander Tian. He's only thirty-five years old and he's already a senior colonel! Even the fleet commander talks to him like he's his own nephew! So I paid attention out of curiosity and found out about this! When he came back, he couldn't help but complain to me that if he had a father like that, he would be overjoyed if he could get promoted to colonel before he turned forty!" Zhao Lu said with a helpless expression.

"Tell me about this whole thing from beginning to end in detail! Don't leave out any details you know!" Gao Kai said with a serious expression.

So Zhao Lu explained the whole story in detail. Before coming here, he had already looked into it in detail, so what he said now was basically the same, except for some details.
