Chapter 624: Prison
Chapter 624: Prison
By the end, his previous arrogance had been beaten out of him completely.
Originally, Jim viewed Aurora as nothing more than a pretty, easy-to-manipulate girl. Now, however, fear had completely consumed him.
At one point, while clutching his swollen face, he stared at Aurora in horror and shouted shakily, "You insane woman!"
Aurora merely tilted her head slightly before walking closer.
"A lowlife like you," she whispered coldly, "still dares to look down on others?"
Then she raised her hand and slapped him so hard that his entire vision turned black instantly.
The room finally became silent after Jim lost consciousness completely.
Breathing calmly, Aurora looked down at his unconscious figure before beginning the second phase of her plan.
Without hesitation, she suddenly slammed her own forehead against the wall.
Bang!
A sharp pain spread through her skull instantly, yet Aurora did not stop.
She continued several more times until visible bruises appeared across her skin.
Of course, she intentionally injured herself because she needed sympathy.
Afterward, she deliberately created additional injury marks across her arms and shoulders.
She even tore part of her clothing carefully before lowering the collar slightly to expose one shoulder.
Once she finished preparing everything, she looked toward Jim, who was slowly beginning to regain consciousness again.
A faint smile appeared on Aurora’s lips.
Then, in the very next second, she pretended to faint weakly onto the floor.
Moments later, Jim groaned painfully while forcing his eyes open. Every inch of his body throbbed with agony.
However, the instant he noticed Aurora lying unconscious nearby with visible injuries and torn clothing, a dark smile slowly spread across his face.
"This is perfect..." he muttered hoarsely.
His eyes filled with ugly desire as he slowly stood up.
"Now no one will ever be able to save you from me."
The next second, he immediately lunged toward Aurora.
Unfortunately for him, his luck was truly terrible.
Bang!
The hotel room door was suddenly kicked open violently by several police officers.
The officers rushed inside immediately after receiving an anonymous report regarding suspicious activity. The moment they saw the scene before them, their expressions darkened instantly.
Aurora looked pitifully unconscious on the floor, her body covered in bruises and injuries, while Jim was hovering directly above her.
To the officers, the situation looked horrifyingly obvious.
Without hesitation, they immediately restrained Jim and slammed handcuffs onto his wrists.
"What the hell are you doing?!" one officer shouted furiously.
Meanwhile, several policewomen hurried toward Aurora and carefully checked her condition. Seeing the injuries covering her body, sympathy instantly filled their hearts.
Quickly, Aurora was rushed toward the hospital.
After conducting several examinations, the doctors concluded seriously, "The girl suffered severe physical injuries and emotional trauma."
Meanwhile, Jim also demanded a medical examination while repeatedly insisting that Aurora had attacked him first.
However, aside from some bruises and vague internal pain, there was very little concrete evidence supporting his claims.
One of the doctors merely glanced at him indifferently before muttering, "You are probably exaggerating."
The instant Jim heard that, he exploded in rage.
"It was Aurora!" he shouted hysterically. "She is violent! She attacked me first!"
However, no matter how loudly he screamed, nobody paid attention to him anymore. Especially not the police officers, who already felt furious toward him after seeing Aurora’s miserable condition.
In their eyes, he was nothing more than a disgusting man caught red-handed attempting to ruin a young girl’s life inside a hotel room.
Naturally, they immediately threw him behind bars.
Meanwhile, sometime later, Aurora slowly pretended to regain consciousness inside the hospital room.
The moment Aurora opened her eyes weakly, she noticed several officers trying to contact her family.
Immediately, she stopped them nervously.
"No..." Aurora whispered weakly while shaking her head anxiously. "Please do not inform my parents. They will become too worried about me."
Hearing those words, the officers felt even more heartbroken for her.
Such a gentle girl had suffered something so terrible, yet her first concern was still her family.
Naturally, they immediately agreed.
Later, after Aurora privately insisted that Jim should remain imprisoned for at least five years while compensating her nearly ten million dollars to keep the matter quiet, the officers also supported her demands completely.
To Aurora, obtaining ten million dollars was honestly meaningless. After all, she already possessed terrifying wealth.
Her real objective was much simpler.
She wanted to make sure that the demon-like Jim remained trapped behind bars.
Meanwhile, Shay anxiously waited for her brother’s return. However, after he failed to contact her for an unusually long time, worry gradually filled her heart.
Eventually, after making several calls, she finally learned about his stupidity.
At first, Shay genuinely wanted to ignore him entirely. However, remembering how valuable Jim’s hacking abilities were to the Institute, she reluctantly decided to help him.
Unfortunately, rescuing him proved far more difficult than expected.
Thanks to Aurora secretly using her own connections behind the scenes, even Shay encountered enormous resistance while trying to interfere with the case.
Standing before the prison bars, Shay stared angrily at her miserable brother before saying coldly, "This is entirely your own fault. Why could you not control yourself for once?"
Her expression twisted with irritation as she continued,
"She was already my enemy. Even if you desperately wanted to sleep with someone, why did you choose Aurora of all people? That bitch is nothing but trouble!"
As Shay continued ranting angrily, Jim remained unusually quiet.
In truth, his entire body still ached unbearably, almost as though invisible fists were constantly beating him from every direction. Yet because he lacked proper evidence, nobody believed him at all.
Now, even his own sister was blaming him entirely.
Finally, he completely lost control.
"Shut up!" Jim roared furiously while slamming his fists against the bars. "Shut up already! This is all because of you! Everything became like this because you are so domineering!"
"How can you talk with me like that?" she snapped.
"Earlier, I truly thought you were innocent. I even considered helping you and bringing you up properly, but now I realize that you do not deserve any of it."
Hearing those words, Jim’s heart pounded violently against his chest.
In truth, he had only spoken those harsh words out of anger and frustration.
Deep down, he knew very well that if there was anyone capable of getting him out of this miserable situation, it was her.
Fear instantly replaced his arrogance.
"I’m sorry! I really didn’t mean it like that!" he cried desperately. "Please, give me another chance!"
However, by then, Shay had already given up on him completely.
Jim’s expression twisted viciously the moment she disappeared from sight.
"Aurora, you bitch..." he muttered venomously under his breath. "Just wait until I get out of here. Once I’m free, I’ll definitely teach you a lesson."
While Jim drowned himself in resentment, there were others far away who were also clutching their heads in frustration because of Aurora.
It was none other than the people from the institute.
The entire plan they had carefully prepared for so long had been completely ruined by Aurora’s unexpected actions.
Every arrangement they made kept collapsing one after another, leaving the entire organization in chaos. None of them even knew how they were supposed to face their superior anymore.
At that moment, they only knew one terrifying fact. If their boss decided to hold a meeting, they would all be finished.
Especially Kai.
Harry, finally broke the silence.
"Why don’t we just change the main target?" he suggested cautiously.
"Why are we focusing only on Aurora? It’s not like she’s the only person from whom we can obtain energy. There are plenty of other people we can target instead."
Hearing his suggestion, several people immediately nodded in agreement.
Honestly, many of them had already started wondering the same thing.
They simply could not understand why the institute insisted on continuing this hopeless struggle when there might be easier targets available.
"If we find someone easier to manipulate, things might finally go smoothly," another man muttered quietly.
However, Kai slowly shook his head.
A complicated expression appeared on his face as he recalled the meeting he had with Nate only a few days ago.
Long before Harry suggested changing the target, Kai himself had already considered that possibility countless times.
In fact, he had personally arranged a private meeting with Nate to discuss it.
The moment Nate learned that the meeting concerned Aurora, he immediately agreed.
"Kai, just say whatever you want quickly," Nate said flatly. "I still have many things to deal with."
Kai did not waste time speaking indirectly.
Once he finished, Nate remained silent for a few moments before calmly replying,
"No. The target will remain Aurora and no one else."
"But Aurora is far too intelligent," Kai argued seriously.
"She keeps adapting to every situation perfectly. If this continues, the institute will suffer massive losses. All the chips we planted so carefully are mysteriously disappearing one after another. If this continues, we won’t even have enough funding left to support the institute properly."
