Chapter 1128: Janelle Tollman Arc – Who Is the Children’s Father?
Because her educational background was insufficient and she had completely lost touch with society due to amnesia, Janelle Tollman was only introduced to a restaurant job as a waitress through a neighbor’s recommendation.Janelle has strong learning abilities and spent just one morning to learn almost everything she needed to know.
Everyone liked her because she’s beautiful and has a great personality.
After several days of work, everything went smoothly, and her colleagues, knowing about her family situation, took special care of her.
However, a waitress’s monthly salary was only about four thousand, which was quite tight for raising two children.
Janelle wanted to change jobs, but she lacked the education and experience needed, so her resumes were ignored.
One day, she was cleaning the tables used by the previous guests.
Someone entered from outside, and she warmly smiled and asked, "Miss Reid, you’re here early today? What would you like to eat?"
Miss Reid paused and asked oddly, "You didn’t even turn around, how did you know it was me?"
Janelle chuckled and explained, "Because your perfume is very distinctive; I can tell it’s you just by smelling it."
Miss Reid was a bit taken aback because her perfume was very faint, especially in a restaurant filled with mixed aromas of food.
She pulled out a chair by the table and asked Janelle with a smile, "What makes it special? Tell me about it."
"Well... I can’t quite articulate it; initially it feels like a gentle floral scent, but then there’s a hint of sweet milky aroma, like a sweet but not overwhelming afternoon pastry, very warm and sweet."
Miss Reid smiled contentedly, and Janelle finished wiping the table, saying, "I’ll get the menu for you."
After putting down the menu, Janelle asked, "Will you have any friends joining you later?"
Miss Reid held up three fingers, saying, "There will be three of us in total."
Janelle immediately turned to get three sets of cutlery and placed them on the table.
Miss Reid looked up at her and said, "You seem to be very sensitive to scents? Have you had any special training?"
Janelle was a little confused, shook her head, remembering the chef teased her about having a very keen nose, though she didn’t think much of it.
Miss Reid said, "Our team works in perfume research and development, and I think you have talent. Would you consider being my assistant?"
"Me?" Janelle was a bit surprised, hesitatingly waved her hand, and politely declined, "I don’t understand anything."
Miss Reid smiled and said, "That’s why I want you to start as my assistant; I’ll teach you slowly."
"But..."
"I’m a regular at the restaurant and have heard about your family’s situation from other staff. Rest assured, the salary will definitely be higher than what you’re earning here, and if you’re willing to learn well, your future will be much brighter than being a waitress."
Janelle felt this was a rare opportunity, but she wasn’t very confident in herself.
So, she spent the first half month shuttling between the restaurant and the perfume company as a part-timer.
Her keen sense of smell paired with Janelle’s own learning ability led to surprising progress in half a month.
After receiving her first month’s salary, Janelle resigned from the restaurant job and dedicated herself fully to the perfume company.
In six months, Janelle had become a core member of the team, and her salary was enough to cover household expenses, even allowing for some savings.
Her two children were now cheerfully running around the house, calling "Mom" even if not very clearly, but Janelle felt extremely content.
When she first found out about the two kids, she felt very uneasy, even somewhat inexplicable.
But now she was incredibly grateful to have such adorable children.
However, she often wondered who the father of the children was.
She couldn’t remember anything related to that man, no matter how hard she tried.
