[ Pakistani PM highlights extensive human resources of SCO countries ]
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a modern expression of our historic ties, Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit today in Bishkek.
He said Pakistan is a new country in this Organization but has reinforced its position already.
Pakistan provides a vital connection between the Middle East, Central Asia, China and further. This geographic position draws the SCO member states closer, the Prime Minister of Pakistan stated.
The SCO countries have a huge market, big animal resources and young generation. The countries are very rich in human resources, he added.
The current policy of Pakistan is aimed at peace and development. Pakistan acts on the basis of mutual respect, the Pakistani PM stressed.
Belt and Road Initiative is one of the most important initiatives, said Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan during the restricted attendance talks on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek.
Chinese-Pakistani economic corridor is also considered within such initiatives, he said.
"Development of cooperation is moving towards the East," he noted. PM Khan believes that further integration and cooperation is necessary.
He said the countries could use own currencies in trading within the organization. He also called on the SCO to support food security and create conditions for the fight against corruption and large-scale money laundering.
